Checkpoint: Producing 101
What does it actually mean to produce a show?
Service Description
What does it actually mean to produce a show? What does “producing a show” actually mean in everyday language? In this session, Seisa will break down what producing really means and what it looks like in real life — without the business jargon. You don’t need any producing or business experience to understand it. Seisa will explain the different tasks, responsibilities, decisions, and things that need to happen to get a show from an idea to the stage, whether you’re producing a one-person show or working with a larger cast and team. With experience producing and helping others produce shows in NYC, as well as producing grant-supported work, Seisa brings real-life experience of the process. Especially with smaller productions, there isn’t always a team that fully understands what producing involves. Often, artists themselves end up functioning as the producer, while also trying to figure out whether they have the right people on their team to make the project happen. This session is for working artists who want a basic understanding of what producing means, so they can better manage their own projects and make the process smoother. Saturday October 17th 6:30PM ET --- Live group session · Limited to 8 people · 60 min · $25 --- For questions → seisa@theartistsstop.com
